AoU Response to: BIS Smart City Framework

Request for Academician input:
Smart City Framework

The Academy of Urbanism has been invited by the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the British Standards Institute to comment on the recent draft PAS ‘Smart City Framework – guidance for decision makers’.

This document has been put together by the BSI with help from a number of organisations, including the Academy, and seeks to set a good practice framework for city leaders (from the public, private and voluntary sectors) to develop, agree and deliver smart city strategies that can transform their city’s ability to meet its future challenges and deliver its future aspirations.

The smart city framework distils current good practices into a set of consistent and repeatable patterns that city leaders can use to help them develop and deliver their own smart city strategies.

We would like you to help in the development of this framework by:

1. Visiting the BIS website to review the draft and submit your individual comments before 20 September 2013 (you will need to register with the site to view and make comments): http://drafts.bsigroup.com/Home/Details/51672

2. Sending a summary of the main points of your response to the Academy so that we can incorporate with others to prepare a composite. Please submit in the form of no more than five bullet points with supporting text and no more than one page in length. Send your summary to sg@academyofurbanism.org.uk before 09:00 on Monday 9 September 2013.

3. Joining a small group of Academicians interested in taking the Academy’s response further. If you would like to be part of this meeting in London – 14:00-16:00 on 17 September in London – please let Stephen Gallagher know by email to sg@academyofurbanism.org.uk.
