YU Event / Smell and the City
June 13, 2017 @ 18:30 - 20:30 BST

Smell is considered the sense most tightly bound to memory, and in recent years there has been a increasing amount of work undertaken on such things as the ‘design for smell’.
Part of the London Festival of Architecture, this event will explore how designing for smell could take a coordinated approach to tackling broader urban issues.
Join us for a lively evening of presentations and interactive activities about smells in the city. Speakers include:
- Kate McLean – Smellscape Mapper at Sensory Maps and PhD Candidate at Royal College of Art
- Jieling Xiao – Lecturer in Environmental Design at Birmingham City University
- Alexandra Gomes – PhD Candidate at The Bartlett, UCL
Attendees are asked to bring along their favourite smell and also to contribute to our Central London Smell Map by placing your memory of smell on its respective location.
