YU Event / Empathy Walks Roundtable

February 16, 2017 @ 18:30 - 20:30 GMT

Empathy Walks is a open source project and a recipient of the Young Urbanists Small Grants Scheme which aims to build empathy and inclusion in the city by sharing and accessing different layers of London while walking together with “maintainers” immigrants. Diverse everyday activities in the city are what builds the vibrancy in the city, however they are not valued enough within the design and planning process when making decisions for the city. The walks aim at being an inclusive and intimate eye-opening experience to re-think what is the city and how we co-exist in the city.

We will discuss walking methodology, and issues surrounding invisibilisation, inclusive cities and how maintainers (those who maintain our city and its spaces) are often overlooked.

Ahead of the roundtable, participants will be sent a short briefing note to help start the conservation.

Join the round table to give your insights and help improve this project! This event is open to YU members as well as non-members. Spaces are limited, so reserve your place today!
