Recommended Event / Urban Design for Mental Health: The London Dialogue
February 23, 2016 @ 18:00 - 20:00 GMT
The Centre for Urban Design and Mental Health hosts interdisciplinary dialogues in cities around the world to help answer the question: how can we design better mental health into our cities? Join academics, policymakers, practitioners, designers and others for dynamic, diverse presentations and conversations.
This event will be an evening of multi-disciplinary, dynamic presentations on what is happening now at the nexus of urban design and mental health, a chance to meet your future collaborators, and the launch of the Journal for Urban Design and Mental Health.
By 2050 two thirds of the global population will live in cities, so health is increasingly becoming part of the remit of urban planners, architects, transport professionals, and other citymakers. Cities can make us feel happy, sad, stressed, anxious, well and ill. Research tells us that city life is an important risk factor for depression, anxiety, and even schizophrenia. So how can we build better mental health into our cities?
