Recommended Event / Breifing: Will Habitat III produce an effective “new urban agenda?”

The upcoming UN Habitat III Conference is meant to get agreement among the world’s governments for “The New Urban Agenda”. But how new will this “New Agenda” be? How effective?

The event in London on 5 May will involve four short presentations, by:

  • Gordon McGranahan, IDS – on inclusive urbanisation
  • Caroline Moser, University of Manchester – on gender equality and the New Urban Agenda
  • David Satterthwaite, IIED – on Habitat III and policy influence
  • David Dodman, IIED – on news of the agenda drafting process
  • There will be opportunities for questions and discussions. Refreshments and copies of Environment and Urbanization will be available.
