Place Shaping Event for the Wakefield District

The Academy of Urbanism is supporting the Place Shaping Event for the Wakefield District on the 9th March 2016 at Unity Works, Wakefield, WF1 1EP.
Opened by Cllr Peter Box CBE, this will be an interactive and inspirational event that will encourage innovative and creative ideas about how the future of Wakefield District might look. The aim of the day is to bring people who are passionate about Wakefield together, from a range of sectors: public, private and third sector. As part of the event there will be 8 themed facilitated discussions around future developments within the District. These workshops titles are as follows:

3. Culture, Heritage and Arts Sports and Leisure
4. Education, Skills and Training
5. Health & Well-Being
6. Retail & Hospitality
With speakers and facilitators from the field of place shaping, the event will also include an initial address by Matthew Carmona, Professor of Planning and Urban Design at the Bartlett School of Planning, UCL. Chaired by Sarah Pearson, Service Director for Economic Growth and Strategic Housing, this event will be a great opportunity to share your ideas and give input on developments needed across our growing district. To capture the ideas and potential projects suggested, the event will also feature Adrian Spawforth, Wakefield First Board Member and Chair of Wakefield Bondholders and Neil Rodgers, Service Director for Planning, Transportation and Highways for Wakefield Council. The event will include a networking lunch, closing at 1.45pm.
Registration will begin at 9.00am for a 9.30am start.
