Fast-Track Urbanism Workshop and Research
August 28 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Where do things live before they’re in-stock now, click-and-collected or same-day delivered fresh to your door?
The answer is likely within a town-sized warehouse conurbation between Coventry, Leicester and Milton Keynes. Rapidly increasing in both number and scale, these zones of storage warehouses are the spatial consequence of purchasing almost anything.
Fast Track Delivery is a Young Urbanist Small Grant Scheme research project by Lucy Moore and Duncan McNaughton, documenting the spatial infrastructure enabling fast track deliveries as well as the processes through which these large developments are themselves fast tracked through planning. If we can understand logistics infrastructure as one of the major operating systems governing everyday life, Fast Track Delivery speculates on how designers might hack this to find tremendous and unexpected opportunities for public or environment centred projects.
Duncan and Lucy will present their research and lead a workshop exploring design potential within logistical space, taking place at 7pm on Wednesday 28 August, at Grimshaw Architects offices in Clerkenwell, London.
