Design for Living: The role of design in building a million homes in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc
May 22 - May 23
Milton Keynes is working towards a Festival of Creative Urban Living for autumn 2019. In the lead up, Milton Keynes Council, The Academy of Urbanism and MK Gallery are collaborating to deliver a conference to feed into the debate on the Oxford-Cambridge Arc and the implications of plans to build a million homes throughout the arc by 2050.
The conference is being supported by David Lock Associates, Milton Keynes Development Partnership, Crest Nicholson plc, Berkeley Group, St James. Other partners and supporters to be announced soon.
22 May 2019 – 12:00-19:30
Includes an introduction to MK through a series of study tours that will look at how the city is being designed for living, as well as an evening reception hosted at MK Gallery.
23 May 2019 – 08:30-17:15
Day two offers talks and panel debates that will look closely at the role of design in building a million homes in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. The day will be divided into three overarching sessions: planning for region growth; masterplanning new neighbourhoods; housing innovation. The day will finish with a final keynote talk by our soon-to-be-announced international planning expert.
