Creating a Happy City, Morning seminar
October 30, 2014 @ 09:30 - 13:00 GMT
The Academy of Urbanism partners with Changing Chelmsford to present the Creating a Happy City Seminar, the first of three stimulating events exploring links between city life, creativity, health and wellbeing. The event will be held at the refurbished Anne Knight Building, opposite Chelmsford Station, with the event itself inspired by Knight’s reforming work.
Mental wellbeing is promoted by good places. Neighbourliness, positive attitudes to local places, and the ability to lead change, all help to combat environmental disorder, economic stress, media pressure, and bureaucratic isolation. Mental wellbeing is a significant objective of public health and environmental design in urban places. How do we create valued places and communities of belonging, sharing and soul? Contributions from Jane Wernick, editor of Building Happiness, Phil Martin, CEO of Essex YMCA, and Ruth Marie of Quaker Social Action Knees Up project. Plus a short account of reviving the Anne Knight Building. Facilitated by John Worthington.
