AoU Coffee Break, Scotland

April 1, 2021 @ 13:00 13:45 BST

The AoU Coffee Breaks are back for 2021, with an AoU Young Urbanist takeover, all membership types are welcome to come and join the discussion, and strengthen connections across the membership.

April 2021 marks the one year anniversary of ‘temporary’ measures applied in the Scottish planning system as a result of COVID-19 which removed the need for in-person community consultation before a planning application. For this session, Young Urbanist Joe Peach will share a presentation exploring the viability of a permanent digital-first approach to community consultation, looking at infrastructure reach, the challenges of equitable access and meaningfulness, and the culture clash between the iterative approach of the tech sector and the democratic pace of the planning process.

AoU members based in Scotland will receive a link to the event via a newsletter. If you are an AoU member based elsewhere, and would like to attend, you would be very welcome, drop an email to aou_scotland@academyofurbanism.org.uk and we can send you a link.

Prior to Congress 2021 in late June, Coffee Breaks are usually scheduled for the first and third Thursday of each month, from 13:00 – 13:45, and will take place over zoom.

  • Thursday April 1st (this session)
  • Thursday May 6th and 20th
  • Thursday June 3rd
