PUBLICATIONS PLACE-MAKING 2008 & 2009 The Academy has joined forces with RUDI (Resource for Urban Design Information) to bring together these publications as part of its on-going mission to foster learning from place. The aim of these books is to present a series of exemplars of contemporary place-making practice, and to identify key issues for designers, planners and developers alike. As such, they contains important pieces of thought leadership, intended to further shape the place-making agenda. Many leading proponents of sustainable design, such as Richard Simmons, Chief Executive of CABE, Rob Cowan, Director of Urban Design Skills and David Cobb, Director of UrbanBuzz argue that current best practice is now perhaps no longer sufficient to suit our changing needs, where a sustained process, rather than a sustainable product, should lead the agenda. 2008 ISBN: 1 899650 47 4
