New Directors appointed to the Academy Board

Henk Bouwman AoU and Biljana Savic AoU have been appointed to the Academy’s Board of Directors. The vacancies were created by the retirement of Chris Balch and John Worthington from the Board and were advertised in February this year. The appointments followed a process of shortlisting, interview and selection by a panel of current Directors.

Both Henk and Biljana have been Academicians for a number of years, each having recently played key roles in the formation of our Graduate Development Programme.

Henk brings with him vast experience of managing urban change and innovation within city centres and station districts in Europe and Asia, established through his practice Urban-imPulse.eu, which he started in the Netherlands during 1998. More recently, he has been working in the UK on the spatial strategy for High Speed Rail. He has held a number of academic posts and is currently teaching in Amsterdam.

Biljana is an architect and urban planner with over 20 year’s experience within architectural and urban design practice, construction management, and public and third-sector advisory, both within the UK and abroad. She is currently Programme Director at The Prince’s Regeneration Trust and a Churchill Fellow undertaking research on empowering communities through participatory design and development processes.

We are excited about the energy and experience that Henk and Biljana will bring to the Academy’s Board as we move into our 10th Anniversary year.

As we approach this important year, we want to involve as many Academicians as possible in our celebration activities. Please visit the AoU website regularly to keep up with what is planned, and let us have your ideas of further activities and events that we might include.
