Past Events 2010 ACADEMY END OF YEAR REVIEW View the review presentationOur annual event to reflect on the year's progress and inform on future direction. This year we were delighted to welcome many new Academicians to the review, eager to contribute to our plans for 2011. Reporting back were members of the Academy's Board, covering; finance, membership, events and activities, and The Urbanism Awards. All topics reported healthy results especially in these harsh financial times we are experiencing. A particular highlight to the year came from our events and activities programme, whereby we have engaged with a greater number of people across a larger number of intimate events, spread over a increased geographical area. We find ourselves reaching out to a diversifying audience in many ways, and we are delighted by this. Academician and Director General for Neighbourhoods at Communities & Local Government, Richard McCarthy, gave an excellent presentation about Localism, Urbanism and Growth: Facilitating Sustainable Urbanism. Richard spoke about where the government's current line of thinking lies. A story of sensative pro-growth, married with more intimate localism was told. We will shortly be posting notes from Richard's talk here |
